Ladies and gentlemen, believe it or not, the 2022 FBS College Football season has finally begun. There are several games of Week 0 already on Saturday, and the schedule includes a trip across the pond for two Big Ten opponents. Nebraska and the Northwest will face off at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, in a massive West Big Ten battle that could set the tone for what should be a tumultuous season in the division.
These two teams are not the only active FBS teams. Illinois will host Wyoming, Florida State will face Duquesne, North Carolina will face Florida A&M, and Vanderbilt will go to heaven to fight Hawaii.

Nebraska vs. Northwest (in Dublin, Ireland) – 12:30 pm on Fox, fuboTV (try it for free): Cornhuskers coach Scott Frost is on one of the hottest places in the country, and he lured former Texan starting quarterback Casey Thompson to Lincoln, Nebraska to replace the recently departed Adrian Martinez. Thompson has the same dual threat abilities as Martinez, who has been a staple of Frost’s offensive moves throughout his career as a coordinator and coach. It’s an even year, which, at least recently, means Northwestern will be in contention for the division title. Coach Pat Fitzgerald has a strong offensive line but kept the quarterback situation close to the vest even after they arrived in Ireland.
Wyoming in Illinois – 4:00 pm on Big Ten Network, fuboTV (try for free): Coach Bret Bilemah announced Thursday that former Syracuse starting quarterback Tommy DeVito will lead his team against the Cowboys. DeVito had a lot of success at the FBS level and had a lot of weapons around him, including potential tight end star Luke Ford. Wyoming has been completely wiped out by the release and transfer portal, so it’s hard to gauge what we’ll see in Champaign, Illinois.
Duquesne Florida – 5:00 PM ACC, fuboTV (Try for free): Normally a game between a former national power going through hard times and an FCS opponent wouldn’t be a big game, but hey, it’s week 0. Florida State Coach Mike Norvell is having an important year, and it’s not like the Seminoles. recently performed well at the opening of the season. It will be nice to see what they have improved and what work needs to be done to get the Nols back on top.
Florida A&M in North Carolina – 8:15 pm on ACC network, fuboTV (try for free): The Tar Heels are in the first year of an era since the death of Sam Howell, and Coach McBrown announced this week that redshirted freshman Drake May will start at quarterback. Come for quarterback intrigue, but stay for the fun of watching star wide receiver Josh Downes in action.
Vanderbilt Hawaii – 10:30 pm on CBS Sports Network (find a channel), CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports app: The SEC season will begin in a nightcap as Commodores coach Clark Lee leads his team into the Pacific Center to take on the Rainbow Warriors. If you don’t know Dores quarterback Mike Wright, you’ll see a lot of double threat stallions. The Timmy Chung era will begin for Hawaii when the former Rainbow Warriors quarterback takes over running his alma mater in hopes of returning it to national prominence.
