Week in Review: EXPOSED: Surveillance State Secrets

Posted on August 27, 2022

This is an Orwellian system designed to strengthen the awakened warriors and expose the perpetrators of politically incorrect speech, and the University of Arizona did not want the public to know anything about it. But thanks to the Goldwater Institute and an enterprising journalist, these government surveillance secrets have been exposed in this latest victory for government transparency.

“Inconvenient.” “Trigger”. “Worrying.” These were the words the students used to describe the incidents they reported to the university’s bias reporting system. At first, the school refused to provide copies of “bias” incidents. College Fix investigative reporter Christian Schneider, but finally did just weeks after the Goldwater Institute demanded that the law be upheld and these public records released. Now the Goldwater Institute is shedding light on revivalist religion making its way onto college campuses.

But the Goldwater Institute is proposing a plan to restore free speech on campus. In five states, the Goldwater Institute has reformed to formalize university policies reaffirming the importance of free speech. And just last month, the Goldwater Institute released a new model policy that dismantles the campus opinion police by barring public universities from using bias reporting systems to stifle student speech.

Learn how the Goldwater Institute exposes the state of campus surveillance and works to make American colleges feel like safe havens for free and open exchange of In defense of freedom.

Great news for innocent moms fighting bureaucratic bullies!

An Arizona judge has ordered the State Department of Child Safety (DCS) not to blacklist Tucson mother Sarah L.’s name on the Central Child Abuse Registry until a court rules on whether DCS’ actions are constitutional.

Sarah, whose due process rights are protected by the Goldwater Institute, is not a child molester. She simply let her 7-year-old son and his 5-year-old friend play in the park under the supervision of an adult friend, while she quickly went to the grocery store. But in Arizona, your name can be put on the state list of those who should not be hired. twenty five yearsbased on a probable cause, that is, a simple suspicion.

“It’s unconstitutional, and courts in several other states have already invalidated it,” Goldwater Institute vice president of law Timothy Sandefer writes in In Defense of Liberty. “Referring to these cases, the judge … issued an order to prevent the Department from blacklisting Sarah — at least until the court decides whether state laws are constitutional. This is an important first step towards solving this case.”

“The Tennessee government won’t let me make a living.”

Violine Panaschi is a highly qualified attorney with a law degree in Canada, an LL.M. from New York, and a 90th percentile on the Unified Bar Examination. But as Violaine writes in Nashville Tennesseewhen she moved to Tennessee, a state government commission did not allow her to practice because she stated that her Canadian law degree did not meet the credit hours required for a U.S. bachelor’s degree and a U.S. Juris Doctor degree.

“That’s why I’m challenging this arbitrary bureaucratic approach in the Tennessee Supreme Court – so that qualified people can do their jobs,” adds Violine. And the Goldwater Institute is fighting alongside her, filing with the Tennessee Supreme Court in support of her constitutional right to earn a living.

“Should we waste taxpayer resources to end government interference in professional licensing after a highly qualified candidate has passed standardized testing?” Violine asks. “It’s simple: government bureaucrats need to stop preventing qualified lawyers from doing their jobs.”
