Srinagar- The Kashmir branch of the world-famous social justice organization Who Is Hussain is organizing a blood donation camp on Saturday in three districts of the Kashmir Valley as part of the organization’s worldwide blood donation campaign.

In Srinagar City, blood donation camps will be set up at Imambad Zadibal and Imam Barga Ayatullah Yusuf, Bemin, besides Markazi Imam Bargah Budgam and Imambarg Gamdu at Bandipore on Saturday.
The non-profit organization has branches in 109 cities around the world, including Srinagar, where about 25 volunteers work to educate people about the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Hussein ibn Ali.
The blood donation camp is part of the global “Become a Global Blood Hero” campaign that is taking place in several countries. The goal of the campaign is to set a world record for collecting 50,000 units of blood in one calendar day.
Organizers say they hope the blood donation campaign will generate an overwhelming response.
Blood donation camps have been set up at four different locations in Kashmir, and each camp has about a dozen beds that will be looked after by a team of five experienced paramedics, in addition to global NGO volunteers.
Organizers also said separate beds have been set up for female donors. The Kashmir branch of WhoIsHussain expects to collect about 2,500 units of blood in one day, far exceeding the total capacity of hospitals.
Abrar Ali, one of the organizers, said he was receiving calls from people from all walks of life who wanted to donate blood for a noble cause.
“People across sectarian lines are eager to take part in this record-breaking action by donating blood. I have received hundreds of calls from people who want to donate blood for a noble cause,” Abrar said.
“Our team has been working tirelessly over the last couple of months to make sure that we too are part of the history that is being made, and what better way than to be recorded in history as the one who donated his blood to save lives in the name of Hussein Ibe Ali.” he added.
Asghar Baba, another volunteer, expressed his gratitude to the public hospitals for leaving no stone unturned to make the event a success.
“We are very grateful to the Kashmir Health Services Authority, SKIMS, GMC Srinagar and GMC Baramulla for their tremendous support which made this event a success.”
Accordingly, WhoIsHussain has taken a number of initiatives in Kashmir over the past few years for the overall development of society. In addition to providing relief during natural disasters, a well-known non-governmental organization carried out sanitation campaigns and information campaigns. WhoIsHussain also carried out relief work following the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the Valley.
The Wall of Kindness initiative that took social media by storm in the winter of 2018 was also the brainchild of WhoIsHussain.
The blood donation campaign is carried out in cooperation with the blood donor group Salute72 and blood donors Anjuman Blood Donors, Budgam.
