Kanye West criticized Gap through his Instagram account. The rapper recently took to social media to threaten the popular brand that he would “quit” his collaboration with Yeezy X Gap if they didn’t work with him. This comes after the 45-year-old accused the store of “copying” the Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga collection.
Wednesday, August 31 Famous the singer shared a video of himself walking away from Gap executives in Atlanta. As he continued to cheer on the group of people, he also threatened to leave the brand.
During Kanye “Ye” West’s speech, he shared his vision for his collaboration with Gap. In an effort to motivate employees, he said:
“We have to have the most energy brand in the mall.”
Continuing to inspire his colleagues, Yeezy delivered an ultimatum to the executives in the room with him. When West called for creative freedom, he warned GAP:
“I love Gap… you have to really let me be Ye and let me do what I think or I’ll have to think somewhere else.”
By the time the Yeezy designer’s speech ended, Gap executives were about to applaud Kanye West. However, he ordered them not to do so and said:
“Don’t clap the hell…you’re all going to make me quit smoking.”
The leaders did not seem to believe him and laughed at his statement, as a result of which Thank God singer. He said:
“No, this is not a fucking joke on behalf of Virgil, on behalf of my mom. I tell you what it is.”

Gap CEO takes temporary position
Bob Martin, the retail brand’s current executive chairman, is serving as interim president and CEO following the departure of Sonia Singhal. The latter retired in July after a sharp drop in the brand’s sales.
Martin has been the brand’s executive chairman since March 2020 and has now also taken on the role of CEO. Along with this, he is also the Commissioner of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Prior to working with the iconic brand, Martin was President and CEO of Wal-Mart’s International division, where he worked for 15 years. In addition, Martin received an honorary doctorate from Southwestern Baptist University.
As of this writing, Gap has not released a public statement about Kanye West’s Instagram activity.
Kanye West claims Gap held meetings without him
The above video came after Ye accused the brand of holding design meetings without him. He signed the post on Tuesday, August 30:
“Gap had a meeting about me without me?”
The image showed the clothing brand’s visor sunglasses and clothing in the background.
In another Instagram post, West accused the brand of canceling a photo shoot with his kids without his knowledge. He signed the post:
“But they canceled a photo shoot with my kids in Japan without my knowledge.”
This isn’t the first time Kanye West has cast a shadow over his Instagram account. West also launched an attack on ex-boyfriend Kim Kardashian and comedian Pete Davidson.
