The indefinite ban, effective Friday (August 26), is the result of low water levels in the reservoir following a recent period of hot, dry weather.
Parts of Yorkshire have seen their lowest rainfall since records began over 130 years ago, according to Yorkshire Water.
But not everyone is forbidden to use their own hose.
Here’s everything you need to know about exceptions and limitations during the hose ban.
Who is exempt from Yorkshire Water’s hose ban?
The ban does not include blue badge holders who are registered with the Yorkshire Water Preferred Services Registry or Medically Significant WaterSure Plans.
Yorkshire, from tomorrow we are asking everyone to remove the hoses so we can help our tanks get back to the level they should be.

Businesses such as garden centers and car washes will be allowed to use hoses if their use is directly related to commercial purposes.
There are restrictions on the use of the hose other than for essential commercial purposes, so, for example, the use of the hose to clear a path outside of a commercial property would be prohibited.

Why is there a hose ban and when will it end?
Martin Hattersley, head of demand management at Yorkshire Water, said: “Hot and dry weather means Yorkshire’s rivers are flooding and our reservoirs are lower than we expect at this time of year.”
“We are doing our best to avoid restrictions, but unfortunately they are now required as part of our drought planning.”
Mr Hattersley added: “We will keep everyone posted when this is over.”
What activities are covered by the hose ban?
Activities that are subject to the hose ban include:
• Watering the garden with a hose
• Cleaning vehicles or boats with a hose.
